Brendan + Kate

A Devonshire Delight…

We first met Kate at a wedding fashion event at the Savoy in central London, and again (this time with Brendan) in a bar in Islington, over some red wine. This couple definitely had good taste, so we were pretty sure the wedding day was going to be nothing short of perfection- and they didn't disappoint! With the help of wedding planner extraordinaire, and friend, Susan Hopkins, the couple had found a stunning venue nestled in the folds of the Devonshire countryside: Bridwell Park, home of Lord Mountbatten.

We were already excited about capturing such a stunning location, but when the couple expressed an interest in some aerial drone footage we knew we were going to be spoilt for stunning footage to play with. Now drones can be a little overused, being the current new kid on the block in the videography world, but when used sparingly, aerial footage can provide a perfect cinematic opening to a film.

One benefit of having a wedding planner helping organise your day, is they have a tendency to hire a great bunch of suppliers and this wedding was no exception, particularly in their choice of the award-winning hair and make-up company Team Glam, who made sure Kate was set up for her final touches in the perfect part of the house- against a window with plenty of natural light, which allowed for some great creative shots.

Brendan and Kate gave speeches which were the perfect blend of funny and touching, providing me with more than enough material to create a great narrative through their film.

But the prize for the most touching moment came from Kate's father, who broke down while describing his pride for his daughter. As soon as it happened we knew we had to connect this moment with their walk down the aisle together. We love moments like these, it makes me realise what a great memento a wedding film can be.

Having two of us shooting during the ceremony means, as long as there are no restrictions, we are able to shoot from the front of the church and also from the back, which allows to capture great angles like this:

Brendan and Kate planned their day down to the finest detail, and the whole day was extremely tasteful, as encapsulated by their wonderful wedding cake.

8We are always looking for the perfect moment to repeat throughout the film, one that represents the day, and we thought this shot of Kate and Brendan walking together was just that.
