A day filled with laughter and fun…
David and Cheryl were good friends with some previous clients of mine. It's always great to be recommended by previous clients, especially by clients whose wedding the previous year was one of the highlights of the season for me. I knew immediately that the day would be filled with fun, laughter and a lot of dancing and I wasn't disappointed.
I had never worked at Nonsuch Mansion before, so I couldn't wait to capture the venue in all its glory. I made sure I arrived early enough in the morning to allow for some dedicated time taking establishing footage, including a great view of the mansion from amongst the trees.
The couples wedding day all took place at the same venue, which allowed me and my second shooter to dedicate all of our time to Nonsuch Mansion, which is by far my favourite way of working. Without travel time, it meant I could spend longer at the bridal preparations, which was great, as David had gifted Cheryl a handwritten diary of the last year while planning the wedding, and her reaction to the present made a great moment for their film.
Having to filmmakers capturing your day allows for multiple creative angles during the ceremony and speeches. While I was taking close-ups of David and Cheryl's vows from the front of the ceremony room at Nonsuch, my second was able to capture another great angle from the back, with the happy couple framed against the window. It made for a great moment in their film.
Cheryl and David were a fun, easy-going couple and were more than happy to take a stroll around the grounds of Nonsuch during the afternoon, which allowed me and the photographer to capture some great shots of the couple taking some time out for themselves away from family and friends. This is always a great opportunity for some creative shooting and Nonsuch Mansion provided a plethora of opportunities.
As I mentioned above, I knew from my previous experience with this particular group of friends that the party element of the day was key and would provide plenty of opportunities for some great moments. Thankfully Cheryl and David opted to book me for a little longer than my usual finish after the first dance, which allowed me plenty of time to capture the fun and frenetic energy of the evening celebrations, which erupted immediately after the confetti cannons were fired at the end of the couples first dance.
