Alexandra + Andrew | Meopham Green, Kent
I first chatted to Alexandra and Andrew on skype and we chatted about a drone film I had produced in Iceland a few years go (which you can see here) and how I happened to take some footage in a fairly obscure area, where Andrew had proposed not so long ago, which was great to here. I could also tell from our conversation that the couple got my style of filmmaking, which is important to me as the tone of my films is not necessarily for everyone and I want people to be on the same wavelength before booking, to make sure everyone is happy with the final product! They described the village in Kent, with its windmill and village green, and the family home where their garden wedding would be taking place and it sounded very picturesque, however I wasn't prepared for how beautiful the views were from the garden would be, or how immacutely their marquee would be styled. The couple got ready a few doors from each other, allowing me the chance to take footage of both lots of preperations, which always helps create a great dynamic in the morning footage. The wedding ceremony took place at a local church, Alex arriving in a stylish red MG. After the ceremony, the photographer and I followed the couple in the MG to a beautiful local spot for some portrait shots and I also took the oppurunity to get Andrew to take me for a quick spin in the MG to get some lovely opening shots for their film from inside the car, which turned out better than I'd hoped.Their wedding reception was filled with family, friends, children (and a dog) having a great time in the sunshine before the wedding breakfast. Andrew gave a great speech which can be heard in the film, alongside a beautiful reading from the church ceremony, both of which help drive the narrative of the main part of the film.I knew Andrew and Alex had a band in the evening and that they had a great lively group of friends and family ready to party, however I wasn't quite prepared for such a frenetic and fun atmosphere, partly driven by a stand out performance from the band. The dance floor was packed all evening and everyone was oblivious to my camera, which was perfect, as it allowed me to get some of my favourite dancing footage of the year, all topped off with some great sparkler action at the end of th evening. It was great to be part of Andrew and Alex's day, and to meet their welcoming friends and family, and enjoy a very memorable day and evening with them.
